But the best bits are reworkings of their older stuff, like the awesome orchestral intro to Master. Garage Inc doesn't count cos they didn't write it. Yes there are good songs on Load and one (ONE) on Reload but they can't overcome the crushing sense of disappointment. Haven't listened to Death Magnetic because St Anger was so bad that I disowned them. I'm sure they're gutted

I basically disowned them after St Anger as well, but pre-ordered Death Magnetic to give them the benefit of the doubt.
It is great. heavy as fuck, and some excellent arrangements. almost prog metal in places.

it's no master of puppets, or even black album, but it's pretty good.
even if it's becoming increasingly obvious that lars can't hack it any more.
