Freakazoid was the best when I was a kid!
I still remember the theme now, '...otherwise we'd all be unemployed, freakzoid, chimpanzee'

so here are 3 songs I like that calm me down.
If you care enough to listen and don't have spotify, I'll find the youtube links.
We Were Born The Mutants Again With Leafling - of Montreal
3 Speed - Eels
Novocaine For The Soul - Eels
(, Wed 2 Jun 2010, 0:30, Reply)
are more depressing than calming. Which I don't mind in some moods.
I'm liking the sound of the Mutants one though

I can't listen to the whole of Electro-Shock Blues in one sitting. I'd end up bawling my eyes out.
OK I've just put it on. I'll see how far I get before I need sleep or re-enact the first song.

my first proper boyfriend (i.e. more than three weeks) introduced me to the Eels when I was about 16. Tore my heart out a bit. Same with Nick Cave
(, Wed 2 Jun 2010, 0:36, Reply)
introduced them to me. I was his Beautiful Freak :(
He was (at the time) the fifteen year old boy with a bullet in his forehead.
We'd sit in his room and smoke fags and listen to Eels, oM, Mastodon and Girl Talk. I miss those days.

you should just do things rather than think about them

oM are fantastic, I love Hissing Fauna..., all apart from one track. It's a great album, it's a concept album of sorts where the singer metamorphoses (if that's right) from himself to his alter ego, Georgie Fruit. It's a lot better than that makes it sound. There's an 11 minute track which is amazing (The Past is a Grotesque Animal) which is the bridging point. The track following this is one of my favourite songs.

I was listening to the Electric Shock Blues album, then Spotify adverts interrupted. Sort of ruined the mood
(, Wed 2 Jun 2010, 0:39, Reply)
I can imagine having spotify interrupt this would spoil the tension.
Onto Cancer for the Cure. Going well. Don't quite want to die yet

And it makes me feel sad. And nostalgic
(, Wed 2 Jun 2010, 0:41, Reply)
I think I might start crying.
Because of the fact above, and he once told me to come and visit him at eight o'clock, and then I'd see that he's not the crazy one. I'm aware i'm doing a Cave Duck and quoting lyrics. But these are gorgeous.
For those not listening to the album rihgt now
(, Wed 2 Jun 2010, 0:46, Reply)
is so evocative. It's not even fixed to particular memories, just to a time of life.

Elizabeth on the Bathroom Floor is actually adapted from a diary entry by Elizabeth, his sister, detailing an attempt at suicide.
She eventually succeeded.
