No, I know they want to fix it now but we keep hearing more about them cutting corners
on safety while drilling. In reality now, no one has any idea how to stop the leak considering the great pressures that must be associated with the oil release considering the 5000 foot column of water pressing down on everything.

What's amazing is that they think they can drill into the existing well. While this will probably work to stop the flow, how the fuck can they hit an area that small that many thousands of feet deep? Drilling at that depth is like driving a piece of thread thtough a huge bowl of jello. A 5000-10000 length of drill rod is flexible as hell. How do they control and steer it.

As to the nature taking care of itself, I agree, but it will take a lot more than 2- or 30 years. Bacteria love to eat the lighter fractions as they dissolve into aqueous phase (great carbon source) but the heavier fractions will be around for generations (the 1970's spills off California are still affecting sea life).

I am also concernd about the estuaries in the Gulf. These are hugly productive breeding grounds for both large fish and more importnatly the smaller organisms that are the basis of the food chain. If they can't keep oil put of these, with the ocean already over the fuck fished, who knows what the effect of this will be.

Anyway, it's raining like crazy here and I have to go to the funeral of a friend and co-worker who was in great shape and only 52 when he collapsed and died at the office Tuesday so I am in a crappy mood.
