it was in the centre
not particularly far from La Rambla, not that that will help that much

There are quite a lot of argentinians around there
Have you tried googling restaurante argentino barcelona ?
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 16:41, Reply)
found one whose name rings a bell called Gauchos
not sure why that is familiar though. looking on google streetview and it didn't look like it was in the sort of place that I thought it was.

basically, I need to go back to Barcelona and travel round every argentinian steakhouse till I find it.

Gauchos is a chain, i went to one in london a month ago
Nice steak, but pricey.

The one in Manchester is fantastic.
And very expensive.

I took Wiggy there for his birthday last year
cost £100 for the two of us but it was amazing

That's not too bad...London is far worse I promise you!

(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 17:00, Reply)
best restaurant around here works out about £100 for 2
including a bottle of wine, and the food is insanely good.

london is shit

Now that's just the sort of thing that get's me thinking
'I'll get the name and number for when we next go through Yokeland'.
Which is useless, because if it's any good they won't have a table for six weeks anyway. By which time I'll be back home. Meh.

La Petite Maison in Topsham fwiw
they get booked up fairly far in advance, but still worth a try

Here's a thing -
did you know the best Cornish Pasties come from Devon - just down the road from Vipros. Well, what passes for a road in Devon.
Picture of a native confused by pasty
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 17:21, Reply)
it is a shocking state of affairs
but the best pasty I've had came from my local Sainsburys. admittedly they are made by a butchers or something. WC Rowe if you are interested.
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 17:22, Reply)
Interested in a good pasty?
Who wouldn't be man.
I've even got a fix on Chunks to pick up a sample next time through.
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 17:26, Reply)
where is this Chunks place?
I should sample their wares

edit: turns out they sell them in the butchers where my folks live. I'll have to get in there
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 17:54, Reply)
I can tell at a glance that those aren't the best pasties

(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 17:26, Reply)
My favourite are from a shop in Helston,
although there is an unexpectedly good megapasty to be got in Mevagissy.
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 17:28, Reply)
hmmm, probably not then
this was quite swanky looking, but a family run place (I think) and very reasonable.

they gave us shots of some sugar cane liquor after the meal. possibly. I'd consumed at least two bottles of red wine on my own at that point.
