Doesn't the sea retain heat?
I read somewhere that at night the sea is warmer than the land... but I may be wrong.

That usually at night the air is colder than during the day, so with the sea keeping the temperature of the water more or less the same at night, or even a bit lower than during the day, it feels warmer inside the water.

Now, if it's windy, you'll never want to go out of the water, as it'll feel freezing.
