You need to adopt and practice a facial expression that makes them feel really bad.I have several to choose from. I do one that says "you really are wasting your time telling me off." and another that says "You are so low down the tree of life, I do not aknowledge you as a human being."
I have others which are less pleasant.

I said "OK, well I'll stop doing it then"I was told that this wasn't the attitude. I was rather under the impression that doing it was wrong. Baffling.
