You soon forget that everything can kill you with a single bite.
I spoke to a bloke who had lived in Sydney for 17 years and had never seen a funnel web.

If you go to Sydney do the bridge climb. It's expensive (over £100) but it's brilliant.

mate I've been living here my whole life and I'm always aware of it. :(

Probably for the best, it means you'll live longer ! :D
but am I right in thinking that there hasn't been an actual fatality in decades because the hospitals are so well stocked on anti-venom?

It's not so much the spiders that scare me, it's the sharks.
I think if I saw one I'd just die of fright, like a hamster.

it does make me a bit nervous though
it's enough of a heart jolt when there's only a 50p piece sized one on the wall, when it's bigger than my rat then bothers me and I'm not the one who's afraid of them.

Tuck your trousers into your socks
it wont help, but it will give the locals a good laugh

this exactly.
wear long trousers if your hiking and solid shoes and you'll be fine.

I'll probably forget about it once I'm there
I just hope Wiggy will be able to, otherwise he won't have any fun. I want to book a 3 day surfing instruction excursion thing and I said we'd be away from the spiders for a while, but he retorted with jellyfish.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 12:22, Reply)
No, definitely do it if you can. Surfing instruction excursions are usually done on very safe beaches.
Just wear a rash vest and board shorts, and you'll be fine. You just need to have the vital organs covered ;) Nah, in all seriousness, a rash vest and board shorts will be more then enough to protect you from jelly fish.

I'm not too concerned about jellyfish really
sharks are more my worry but I know that's kind of silly.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 12:30, Reply)
s'not silly at all.
Do NOT go swimming at the beaches in adelaide. They are notorious for sharks. Also - sounds stupid, but if there are red and yellow flags on a beach - swim between them, and only between them. They're there for your safety.

I always obey the lifeguards,
when I was in Newquay it surprised me the amount of people who thought they could just ignore the lifeguard's warnings and signs, idiots.
