Gutted to anyone who got the desire recently.
The only things iOS doesn't have, that I think it badly needs, which every other smart phone seems to have, is Widgets, (decent) Notifications and Smart Lockscreen.

I think it is a bit big though. While I haven't tried anything larger I think anything with a screen size bigger than 4 inches would be too awkward to carry on a daily basis.
I'm happy with my Desire so far, then again I'm hardly a average usage case considering I still have my iPhone 3g in use as a mp3 player and GPS and the blackberry bold 9000 for when I need to write long emails.
As soon as a version of tomtom comes out for Android I'll happily retire the 3g but you would have to pry the BB from my cold dead hands before I'd let that go, BBM FTW!

I'd retire the blackberry, BBM is on par with FaceTime; locked down to only users of the same system, and therefore, is shit for the majority of people.
If BlackBerry came out (and they may already have done without me looking) with BBM apps for the iPhone and Android, they'd sale the system as a viable platform, and could charge subscription rates for access to it, thus making them an absolute fortune. I'd pay £5/month for a

I'm a bit of a casual/light phone user and the Desire has been doing absolutely everything spot on - great apps, fast interface, good camera, connection to net has been spot on. No way I'd pay a premium for an HD screen (although I appreciate I may have got a slightly cheaper deal for my new Desire). Saying that though I thought the iPhone 4 would drive the Desire prices down but that never happened.
