I know
I found something I liked similar to what I said I wanted. Then I tried this one, and it looks so good on me (or so I think) and it's quite original too.

At the begining I didn't want to buy it, as the other one I saw was only £250 and more or less what I had wanted always, but even my father insisted and said I would regret it if I had this other one on my head and didn't buy it. So there you are... All my principles are dead.

Haha!
I reckon looking stunning and knowing it is worth the money.

Yes, I'd imagine so
It's all my "I don't understand why anyone would spend so much money on a dress for 1 night" and then doing it myself. I feel dirty (but it's sooooo prety)

My father decided to pay for it, as I was going to go for the cheap one, and my mum was getting very stressed about it. :))

Yay for dads and their wallets.

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:03, Reply)
Yes!
Not so much for stressed mums with passion for organising.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:05, Reply)
I'd rather have a stressed mum butting in and someone else paying
I'm struggling to see how we are ever going to be able to afford anything after the wedding. Or before and including it.

Make everythign yourself

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:20, Reply)
we're doing that as much as possible
unfortunately I can't make my own venue, clothes, band and tropical island paradise honeymoon location.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:20, Reply)
You can make clothes
Although I am enjoying the idea of you sewing your beard onto something
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:21, Reply)
It is possible to make clothes.
I cannot make clothes.

I have zipped it into something before. That sucked. Particularly as I was walking down a busy high street when I did it.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:22, Reply)
HAHAHAH
If I'd filmed that it would have been a surefire hit on YBF and I'd have been £250 richer
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:24, Reply)
it wasn't quite as dramatic as you might imagine

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:24, Reply)
It would be after I "accidentally" threw a rugby ball at your groin

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:31, Reply)
that is true

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:34, Reply)
I know
We're trying as well to do as much as possible ourselves, but still, it's going to cost a lot more than we thought.

I'm very lucky, as my father works for people with quite a lot of money in Tenerife, but he doesn't like to charge them more than what it's necessary for him to live, so they always try to give him money when they see the opportunity. These clients are paying a good chunk of the wedding too, as well as letting us use their cars, houses, hotels for guests... I can't complain at all.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:26, Reply)
hopefully my mrs should be getting a payrise soon
which will help a lot.

The trouble we're having is that our car needs servicing, and a new cam belt, we've got a room to get plastered and paint etc. to buy, as well as trying to save as much as possible for the wedding.

We're lucky that we've got a really good photographer as a mate who will do that for free, and hopefully we should be able to get a good band on the cheap.

It's weddings costs on top of living costs that is proving difficult!

I'm quite annoyed with Mrs V's sister as well, don't care that she got engaged shortly after we did and is getting married sooner, but it's pissed me off that she is having her wedding on a fucking Thursday.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:29, Reply)
Her sister isn't called Helen is she?
Because she's getting married on a Thursday and I'm not happy about it
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:32, Reply)
nope, Annie

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:33, Reply)
On a Thursday?
Who gets married on a Thursday??

I know how you feel. My PC broke on Friday, and I don't think it can be solved. What do I do, do I buy another one or save the money and live without PC at home?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:34, Reply)
Gaz me the problem, I may be able to help.

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:36, Reply)

help look through all your photos and replace Mark's face with my own
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:38, Reply)
I'm not going to actually do any work on the computer
just go "it sounds like the ram" etc until I get bored.
It might help though!
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:40, Reply)
someone very annoying

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:38, Reply)
You should look into getting married mid week
venues are about 20-30% cheaper.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:37, Reply)
our venue is actually pretty reasonable
as we are having the whole thing at the same place and stuff.

that is the one of the reasons why Mrs V's sister is getting married on a Thursday. Also they are only having about 40 guests, so their chosen venue wouldn't actually let them do it at the weekend, because they could make more money from a bigger wedding.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:38, Reply)
And nobody can go
Our venue is terribly cheap, and even more for what it is. I'm very excited about doing it there!
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:48, Reply)
it's having to use a day or two of leave that really annoys me
as I'm probably going to have to buy some more leave next year anyway for honeymoon and stuff.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:49, Reply)
I know
I'm trying to save as many holidays as possible, and working a stupid number of hours to accumulate for the honeymoon. I'm tired.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:51, Reply)
I think it'll look gorgeous on you! you'll have to put up photos of your wedding so we can all oooo and ahhh over them.

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 8:58, Reply)
I'm in love with it
I have no idea how to put pictures here, but there'll be tons in facebook.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 9:01, Reply)
good - well I've got you on facebook.
BGB is right - it's worth the money and wearing something you love for that day!
