My wife and I are going to Tunisia in 10 days
and I will be there for my birthday. She did a whip round family and friends for my birthday present and told me we were going to the place where they filmed the Tatooine scenes in Star Wars. This week she told me we were flat broke and spent the money on the airport car park and told me that we couldn't afford the trip. Awesome I thought, there I was thinking my birthday present was going to get to go to see where they filmed Star Wars but instead I get a weeks car parking at Bristol Airport! Hows that for an unexpected bonus!

I sense a great disturbance in the force. As if a million voices all cried out suddenly then stopped. What a shitter mate.

I'm trying to look on the bright side and tell myself I still get a holiday
but inside I am full of anger and rage.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:25, Reply)

and we all know where that leads.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:27, Reply)
There are cheaper alterantives to parking at Bristol airport.
If you've not parted with any cash yet, let me know.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:26, Reply)
She's done it

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:29, Reply)
Shame.
How much did that cost?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:34, Reply)
I have no idea, my wife doesn't allow me to have money.

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:35, Reply)
well if it's not too close to your holiday
you should get a refund. It's just stupid spending money on airport parking

^ this
my dad left his car for five weeks in Bristol while he was in Malta, and it cost him about £40 in total. There's even a shuttle service from the place to the airport
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:29, Reply)
This is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of.
And I don't even know your dad.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:31, Reply)
if you went to school in Bristol
there's a chance you do
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:31, Reply)
Where did he teach/molest children?

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:33, Reply)
only in the last six years or so
so might be out of your time-range, and one of the schools now no longer exists
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:35, Reply)
Not St Ursula's?
I assume he taught at a private school, if it's not around not many state schools have gone under in Bristol.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:37, Reply)
nope
the one that went under was a state school. No sixth form though
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:38, Reply)

Not sure why I went all 'Poirot' then. I cannot wait to qualify and start teaching now.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:41, Reply)
I did go to school in Bristol
But I'd imagine your dad is a lot older than me.

Or at least, I hope he's a lot older than me.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:33, Reply)
more as a teacher haha

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:35, Reply)
Seeing your previous post
My school no longer exists now either.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:37, Reply)
It was a nominally Catholic school
Saints name and all that
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:38, Reply)
Was it in Horfield?

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:39, Reply)
yes I think so

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:41, Reply)
Hmm.
Well it would appear I went to this school. Over what period of time did your old man teach there?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:42, Reply)

I thought the only school in Horfield was by the Leisure centre?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:42, Reply)
There was St Thomas More as well.
Since demolished.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:43, Reply)
now become Fairfield on that site

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:45, Reply)
I've not been up there in years.

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:47, Reply)
As the bishop said to the actress.

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 12:06, Reply)
That is awesome.
Perhaps next year you could have a fornight at the Trinity Square car park in Gateshead.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:26, Reply)
could even fit in a long weekend at the NCP in Swindon before then
I love weekends away.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:30, Reply)
Swindon isn't your classic
'Weekend Break' destination either, so I'm sure people would enjoy that. It would be something different.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:34, Reply)
if Swindon's full there's always Basingstoke

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:36, Reply)
it's nothing to be ashamed of

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:45, Reply)
Or Dunstable.

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 12:07, Reply)
Dunstable doesn't have a multistorey
so not really worth a visit.
