that's the one
can't beat a good blues rock jam, that's why I like playing with my band, that's more or less all we do

It is an incomparable feeling
when a jam really gets going and all the musicians click properly.

indeed it is
we had an awesome practice last week. 3 or 4 new tunes, all just clicked, and me and the rhythm section played a 25 minute freakout

3 or 4 new tunes?
You guys obviously write a lot faster than we do...

we write very very fast
most of our songs are quite simple, or a lot of improv, but the basics are laid down fast.

Our singer can basically freestyle

See, we have the problem
that the writing is basically left to me. Coming up with the music is alright, but lyrics take forever. Our drummer doesn't get involved (he can barely remember the names of the songs as it is) and I'm sure our guitarist would offer to help if it weren't for the fact that his first language is Russian.

I can't write lyrics at all.
I come up with songs occasionally but my strengths lie in taking a basic song from someone else and improving and adding stuff.

Oddly enough our guitarist usually does that
Normally I bring chords, a bassline and a tune to the proceedings, with the odd guitar riff or melody thrown in. If I give him enough time to work on it, he usually finds something pretty good to play over the top that my own shoddy guitar playing wouldn't have drummed up.

it can work well
because our singer/guitarist isn't burdened by any knowledge of musical theory (at all, even down to chord names) he comes up with odd stuff and does it very quickly.

what is nice is when he'll play something and I will just hear in my head what lead bit it needs, and then play it.
