People can like who they want
with the exception of U2.
Pitchshifter was pretty hardcore in the pit, particularly as I was bruised to shit from having seen Amen a few days prior.

Pitchshifter were actually brilliant every time I saw them
Never got to see One Minute Silence though, apparently their pits were carnage.

I'd barely heard Pitchshifter when I saw them
and have barely listened since. But I like what they are about. Particularly Hidden Agenda.

First two albums were quite death-y
Then they changed to a rock/nu-metal sound which I prefer.
www.pitchshifter.com and deviant are good albums.

deviant is the one I know/have
it's a good sound. They're drum and bass sounding stuff was suitably banging. good transitions between that and metal too.

That's what i liked about them
They nailed the dnb+metal sound solidly.

I used them as an example to my mate when I was suggesting we do a bit of that in our work.

One minute silence supported Slipknot at Cardiff
in the middle of Rise and Shine they got one half of the arena to move against one wall, one half against the other and when they dropped the chorus both sides were to charge at each other.
That was incredible. Such a great band.

I always missed them whenever they played locally
One of the many bands I wish I'd seen live before they split.

One of the best gigs ever that night, and a huge part of that is because of how good
OMS were, American Head Charge were a bit shit but Slipknot were fantastic. I know they are a bit cheesy but they do it for me.

S'alright
I like Slipknot too. Saw them supporting Slayer a few years back, they rocked it HARD. Couple of years later they came 'round again, only this time Slayer were supporting them...

I went to that tour what was it called again?
I went to Birmingham, Unholy Alliance, that's it. With Mastodon supporting.

Do you ever think a band/artist are ever "alright, not my cup of tea"?
Or can every musical act throughout history be put into two categories; "sublime, God-destroying-ly great" or "fucking shit"?

There are bands I think are 'fucking shit'
but I can still respect people's liking of them - bands such as Muse who do a good show and are competent musicians and thus fair enough if you like them - even if they are fucking shit...

But there's no group that you think are just 'alright'?
That you think are good musicians, you might like a few songs, but not with the euphoria you reserve for Tractor or Hawkwind.

I love that bit in The Simpsons when Bart replaces the elderly organist's sheet music with Iron Butterly's In A Gadda Da Vida and after the lengthy intro, they all start singing along.
