Hmm, don't know about a conversation
but I've always wanted to go back in time and bring one particular famous scientist back to his future/our present to let him see how his discoveries and inventions shaped our lives.

The scientist in question? Michael Faraday.

surely
It would be better to bring back some genius hampered by the restraints of his time and let him loose to see what he could do with modern equipment?

I think this about writers, what would jane austen have written if she had no social constrictions? Ok probably bridget jones but you take the point!

Faraday could be let loose with modern electronics.
That would be fun. He'd have a flux capacitor made in no time!

He would be one of my choices too.
He was rather humble though, so may be a bit tedious.
