CHAPS payments take up to a couple of hours, BACS take a day.
If they are with a different bank to you. If you are both with Barclays for example the transfer should be immediate.

but banks have a nasty tendency to withold afternoon transfers, some they invest in the overnight markets and the rest they stuff up their arses FOR THE SEXUAL THRILL
