My only advice is this:
Don't get something someone else has got. Be unique, and get something you want. Also, just go into a tat shop someone's recommended and talk to the artist about ideas. They're use to people coming in and bouncing ideas off them, and they'll definitely be helpful.

DO NOT pick one out of the books they have there. My artist drew the one on my side freehand straight onto my body.

Don't just pick something off the wall (flash, as they're called). Talk with the artist and work something out with them. Good artists make the art flow with the body, bad artists make it look like an ill-placed sticker.

Never EVER pick off the wall. And if it's a complicated, detailed design or writing, please make sure they put a template of washable ink on you first. That way you can play with the placing and know it'll look good and be spelt right.
