my g/f got me a pipe as she thought it made me look hillarious

Some years ago I got a mate
a pipe and slippers for his 40th birthday. Of course, at the time, I was in my 20's.

I'm nearer 40 than 30 now. I fear reprisal.

They are quite easy to steal
As the people who use them are often quite infirm.

I got a pipe from the pound shop
and smoked rolling tobacco in it.
