I hardly think that going to a Renn Fest qualifies one as a loser.I got to drink beer, eat scotch eggs, watch performers, hear a few comedians (who were pretty damned awesome, actually), and chatted with a lot of people, including a woman from the next town over from where I was born, 600 miles away. It was ace.
The costume was odds and ends that I've acquired over the years.
