I had to see for myself.
Does he understand the importance of humour in comedy? Timing? Punchlines?
Even just the basics?

Although I would actually check I was slightly funny first before doing it.

It's like when I DJ, I'm shitting bricks at the start. If I didn't care about it, I wouldn't get nervous. But I do spend about a week choosing records, rechoosing them and taking about three times as many as I need in case the ones I have in mind aren't working.
Then spend about three or four evenings learning where the mixes go, where to filter before the breakdown and BPMs and stuff.
He clearly didn't check to see if his material was any good, or even if it could feasibly be classed as 'comedy'.
