Do you get paid if you call in sick? If so, take tomorrow off and nip it in the bud!

Then it makes more sense to go home.
I have a real issue with people who insist on bringing germs into the office. No one is that vital to the running of things!
Think on, if you're poorly, snooze.

besides, I've honestly had too much time off, all I've got it a small cold, I'd rather save days off for when I'm properly sick

I hate people thinking theyare indispensible. For fuck's sake, take a couple of days off and stop inflicting your germs. You're doing more harm than good!

The correct attitude, it's unfortunate, but some people are unlike and get colds a few times a years, and other don't. But I'd rather be working and healthy than ill and at home.

literally any place I've ever worked at got pissed off when you took a day off for being sick and they all required a doctors note, other than where I work now and that's because I work for a relative

Here, you can 'self certificate' for the first 5 days of illness, meaning you aren't obliged to provide certification for being off - there are loads of illnesses that don't require medical attention for example - but one of the problems we find is that some staff would rather come to work and make everyone ill, than do us all a favour and go home!
That's all!

Where I work people labour under the misaprehension that if they take a day or two off due to illness then the place will fall apart. Whereas actually, if they come in then loads of people get ill and productivity dies on its arse.
If the American system frowns upon illness then that's a bit sad, really.
