not necessarily, it depends how old the child is
it is good for them to have some stuff they can't play with all the time and thus get bored with too quickly. i remember being thrilled to rediscover books/toys that were kept at my grandma's up in yorkshire when we lived in bucks, for example - it made really very insignificant toys seem very special.
