Would you rather that I had abandoned my children and my family, or that you had moved to another country and found that I wasn't really what you wanted after making such a huge leap? Would that have worked out better for you? Would you really have been willing to take that risk?

My apologies for being too cautious to make that sort of leap. Apparently trying to keep a level head and look at things rationally and think them out in advance is "treating like shit". I will bear this in mind in the future.
