I don't think so, not with orthodox Jewsbecause it's considered an ethnicity and almost a nationality as well as a religion. I think you can convert but I'm not sure if that's as "accepted" as the maternal line.

I understand this happensBut it's still wrong. Religious beliefs should be a personal choice, and shouldn't be comparable to nationality.
