alt: Dr Who is shit.

I'm sure your brother understands
You haven't got that much money.

And Doctor Who is not shit. You are shit.

A Motorhead ticket
is a decent present. Why feel bad about it?
(, Thu 25 Nov 2010, 9:56, Reply)
My sister must have spent a couple of hundred quid.
I bought him a Motorhead ticket last year too, and he turned 40 this year. It's a bit lame of me.

Money isn't the main thing
it was a nice present she got him, but so was yours and I really doubt he had a mental comparison going on
(, Thu 25 Nov 2010, 10:01, Reply)
In truth I suspect he doesn't give a shit.
He didn't want a fuss about turning 40 and I don't blame him.
(, Thu 25 Nov 2010, 10:03, Reply)
there you go then
a day he doesn't like, and he's up a Motorhead ticket. I'd be pleased.
(, Thu 25 Nov 2010, 10:05, Reply)
It's more about how I feel about it than him, I think.

pride makes us feel stupid things
better to focus on how your gift mattered to him, than what it meant to you :)

But then I'm a poverty stricken student. If I let my pride speak I might never get off the floor and stop crying

Does he like Motorhead?
He knows about your situation, he can't be upset with you.

My sister "got" me for Christmas last year a lot of her clothes that she had bought and barely used because she got too fat. She was going to give them to charity. She almost doesn't have any money, so I didn't take it badly (but I'll remind her one day in the future)

He loves them: we go to the London show of every tour
and have done for fucking years.

He might appreciate it more than the wine
Last year I got terribly expensive soaps from Mark's parents, I know they spent at least £100 in soap, and I kept thinking "ffs, I know this soap is good, but there are so many things I'd rather do with £100!"

He might feel the same about the wine.
(, Thu 25 Nov 2010, 10:06, Reply)
Nah, he's
a) a massive alcoholic and
b) a massive wine lover
(, Thu 25 Nov 2010, 10:07, Reply)
Oh, well
In that case, start saving for his 50s!
(, Thu 25 Nov 2010, 10:10, Reply)
He'll probably be dead by then :(

(, Thu 25 Nov 2010, 10:11, Reply)
Start saving then if he dies you get to keep the money!

(, Thu 25 Nov 2010, 10:12, Reply)
That's a good idea
