I used to read the "Lone Wolf" books
but I would cheat. I never rolled dice to see if I won a battle and I always marked my page just in case I chose the wrong path and died instantly.

I shamefully did the same
Did play a couple properly though, but they were frustratingly harsh at times.

Ha! The kid I borrowed them from was much cleverer than me
but he played them properly. What was the point? If you die you have to start the book again and when you get to the bit where you died you're going to choose the other option.

Quite franky I think cheating at those books was a sign of intelligence.
