Things You Still Can't Do Properly Despite Being a Proper Grown Up
An Inflatable Bearded Whumpus asks "What can't you do properly despite the fact you're a fully grown and responsible adult?"
Nothing instills confidence more than overhearing a builder on the site opposite muttering "Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey" to himself.
Basically, stealing the idea from this thread on reddit.

Drive.
When I was 17 all my rich friends got cars for their birthdays, so I became a passenger. Moved up to London when I was 20, and have never needed to.
Mrs V has never learned either - she's been in Landan since she was 3.
It does mean that when we go on holiday, we do get a significant amount of the local flavour from using local transport, which is nice.

Why is it nice having a reduced set of options
and being restricted in the places you can visit?

We're not restricted.
If we want to hire a taxi or whatever, we can.
But it's nice because we have to be slightly more creative and experimental in order to get about when we go, which means, as I said, we get a bit more of the local flavour.

I started driving last year at the age of 38.
It's everything I always imagined it would be. In other words, it's fucking shit.

Yup, look on the bright side
...Like losing your legs means that you never have to tie shoelaces.

It's nice for the places that they would otherwise be able to visit.

I do have a valid UK drivers license but I never choose to drive abroad.
The car hire and fuel costs may not amount to as much as a taxi but I find that when I am trying to enjoy myself I would rather not be subjected to a different kind of liability law and have to be responsible for a few grand worth of kit.
Surely only the poor drive themselves anyhow?

Yeah
I often find, when sitting on an isolated outcrop embracing my wife, watching the sun set over the Grand Canyon, that the lack of a taxi driver waiting with the meter running really kills the mood.

That's why when visiting such places, we tend to stay the night.
