This is a question Lies that got out of control

Ever claimed you could speak a foreign language to impress friends, colleagues and/or get laid? Make a twat of yourself - and I couldn't possibly comment - saying you were the godson of the chairman of BP? Tell us how your porkies have caught up with you

(Thanks to augsav and Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic for the suggestions)

I swapped
Guns N' Roses' second album for U2's first single.

And we have a winner.

Nope, so far over my head it is a mere speck in the sky.....

So
you did it as a joke so someone would get home thinking they were going to blast themselves with G N' R but instead had to listen to the fuckwittering awfulness of U2? In which case genius.
OR
You have no soul and I really do need to stopyouandslapyou?

I think you're suffering from the same complaint
as Jono H.

I've got as far as G'N'Rs second album being "Lies", but get stuck with U2s first single ("Another Day" according to Wikipedia).

Am I allowed a clue?

You're on the right track, but you're on the wrong track (sorry). The release you're looking for is Three (EP) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_(EP)

Would have been easier if he'd swapped his g'n'r rubbish for something decent, maybe the fifth Girls Aloud album?

Only
that would make no sense whatsoever...

Tecnically, G N' R's first 'album' was 'Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide'
...making 'Appetite For Destruction' their second, and not 'Lies'.

Either way, it's still a piss-poor swap for anything by that ponce Bonio...

Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide
That's not an album that's an email address.
I have got U2's first single (EP but...) and pretty much everything they released up to and including The Joshua Tree, in multiple formats, worshipped them when I was a teenager, part of the holy trinity of them, Big Country and The Cure.
Lost interest when they released the Rattle and Hum borefest but still listen to the early stuff now and again.

Amazing
I got the first one and it followed into the second one but not a fact I knew.
Thankfully.
Winner I believe!
