Girls who moan about the toilet seat being left up, rather than down really get my goat.
"It's disgusting", they moan, "moan, moan moan", they moan ad nauseum.
And what's more, girls who moan about the seat being up, are the first to complain when we piss all over the seat! They don't even realise that our hand was forced (as it were), by their own silly toilet rules.
Where's the logic!?
In the interests of equality, it makes more sense for boys to leave the seat up each time, and girls to leave it down. Assuming each household is comprised of equal numbers of each gender, then, using this failsafe system we'd only have to move the seat (either up or down according to preference), 50% of the time.

It's less likely to get pissed on if you're in a rush, and if it _does_ get pissed on, it'll run down the seat and dry out faster. Which makes it slightly less disgusting (assuming you clean it frequently)

Lowering a toilet seat requires marginally less energy than raising it.
That is all.

if you lower it, I then have to raise it.

Close the lid on it when you finish. Everyone then has to open it to either expose the toilet seat or the toilet itself and then close it afterwards, so everyone is left equal.
As a bonus it is also more pleasant in the bathroom to have it covered when you are not using it and a convenient seat when you get dressed and put on your socks after a shower and other similar uses.
