It's the equivalent of lazy journalism. One oft-trotted out statistic is about how 80% (or similar) of Americans don't have passports. If you lived in a country that had breathtaking natural resources like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone Park, skiing resorts and beaches etc - as well as some great cities of utterly different character - all within a cheap local flight's distance, would you be as inclined to bother globe-trotting?

To write off such a varied place on the basis of their government is unthinking and frankly pathetic. Were the people of Britain defined by John fucking Major or Tony Blair or any other UK political bell-end you choose to mention?

You heard right. Some clown in the state party moved up our state primary so we got spanked. Not a single Democrat in Michigan is allowed to cast a vote towards choosing between Barack and Hilary. We get to sit in a corner with Florida and spin our heels. There's nothing we can do about it.
