Title says it all.
Its the only surefire way I'm aware of to accurately determine the IQ of someone without actually having to meet them.
And the reports that certain GCSE exam boards are considering allowing this 'natural evolution of the English language' to be used in English exams by illiterate children beggars belief.
Those graveyards housing the likes of Shakespeare, Chaucer, Caxton, Dickens et al must be vibrating with the amount of spinning going on approximately six feet beneath their verdant grounds...

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
It's not a 'natural evolution' of the English language, it's a fucking ABUSE of it! I don't mind getting texts with it on, but if my child is allowed it in their exams, they're moving to private school!

As Sammi says, don't mind getting texts with it, but when I get it in emails it annoys the tits off me. Take time and type it out properly you cunts.

I concur
In fact, it probably takes longer overall to write and interpret a message in "txt" speech rather than a half decent attempt at the use of the English language.
What about l33t sp34k? :P

^^
One of my biggest bugbears this.
Even when I send a text I use full sentences and punctuation.
Oh, and have a *click* for using 'verdant'.

Precisely.
It's not "evolution", it's devolution. Anything that means people diversify their speaking patterns to the point where extra time and effort is needed to translate between people is not helping communication, is it? Cretins.

@ boss keloid
I'm the same - despite having to sometimes spread out a text over 3 or 4 messages I still ALWAYS use correct english.
I swear it's actually easier and more efficient!
