If I wave someone through when parked cars are blocking half the road, or I let someone out of a junction, it doesn't hurt to give a little wave or a nod of thanks.
I did a survey over the last week and I found that 9 out of 10 male drivers (and all taxi-drivers and I mean all) were courteous and waved/nodded compared to 4 out of 10 women.
It seems that being female makes you an ungrateful motorist, if you're an older women even more so, and if you're in a 4x4 in an affluent neighbourhood then you tend to just force your way through regardless of whether I'm giving you right of way.

*clicks*
I'm literally swearing away under my breath for a good 5 minutes after a non-waver incident.

Nothing clever to add but gratitude for you bringing this sub class of humanity up. Ungrateful fuckers should be made to walk as punishment.

I think it's because women drivers have tunnel vision when they are driving. They can't actually see anybody who isn't directly in front or behind them.

Whenever I have occasion to drive to work (I usually cycle, and I'm fucking smug about it, so there), my journey takes me down a single lane that splits into two about four car lengths before some traffic lights. The vast majority of cars stay in the left lane, but I need to turn right so take the right lane, which is usually empty. Most of the time I'm blocked from getting into that nice empty stretch of road by a car in the left hand lane [Warning - I'm about to make my point]. If the driver is male, three-quarters of the time he'll notice me behind him and move to give me room. If the driver is female, she'll almost never notice me.
I think it's all to do with cavemen finding things in fridges or something.
