It's not that unusual
in my line of work I know of a man whose wife has stabbed him in the neck with scissors or a knife on about 5 different occasions. The one that landed her in court saw him turning up at the court and making a heartfelt plea that his wife should not be put in jail because he loves her so much. The woman confessed to trying to kill him, the police arrived to finder her holding the knife and covered in blood but because of his plea she got a 2 year suspended sentence and went home with him to try and kill him again live happily ever after

You get those kinds too? Admittedly, in my office it is ususally the husband trying to kill the wife but we do get some of the opposite. Then there are the fun ones when we get a pregnant girl in a knife fight.
