This is a question Political Correctness Gone Mad

Freddy Woo writes: "I once worked on an animation to help highlight the issues homeless people face in winter. The client was happy with the work, then a note came back that the ethnic mix of the characters were wrong. These were cartoon characters. They weren't meant to be ethnically anything, but we were forced to make one of them brown, at the cost of about 10k to the charity. This is how your donations are spent. Wisely as you can see."

How has PC affected you? (Please add your own tales - not five-year-old news stories cut-and-pasted from other websites)

Still on-topic (but only just)
I was wondering if the proposed American remake of 'Life on Mars' will have the decidedly non-PC elements removed, or watered down?

The UK original was bloody refreshing in that it didn't shy away from what actually went on in the 70's.

Best line for me? When Gene Hunt, in series 2, exasperated by how slowly an investigation was going, exclaimed: "Now. Yesterday's shooting. The dealers are all so scared we're more likely to get Helen Keller to talk. The Paki in a coma's about as lively as Liberace's dick when he's looking at a naked woman, all in all this investigation's going at the speed of a spastic in a magnet factory".

Sheer bloody genius.

Unfortunately it's true...
David Kelly (of Ally McBeal fame) is executive producing...

Some things are just too sacred to change. this is one of them.

America remakes
There's also a remake of "Spaced" about to happen. Without the blessing of Simon Pegg/Edgar Wright/Jessica Stevenson.

Sacrilege.

"a spastic in a magnet factory"?!
Haha, that's genius!

*adds Life on Mars to list of DVDs to buy*

haha
Sam Tyler, aghast, drops the radio he is holding.
Gene Hunt: What?
Sam Tyler: Think you might have missed out the Jews?

Genius...

Why would a spaz in a magnet factory go slowly?

@Bob Todd
something to do with big metal callipers, I think (but don't quote me on that).

They're doing a sequel series with a similar premise...
...but set in the 80s, so I hear. It'll be interesting to see whether Gene keeps his wonderfully refreshing un-PC outlook ten years on.

it's gonna be called "ashes to ashes"
similarly named after a bowie song from the era. this time it's a modern woman going back to police with hunt in the early 80s, in london. should be absolute genius.

and you're absolutely right about the calipers.

Thanks for confirming re: the callipers
Keeps reminding me of those 'Spastic society' donation boxes that you used to see in the 70's and 80's...
