The Unemployed
As some of you already know, Im a single parent, I bust my ass to take my daughter to school, race like a loon to get to work on time, work hard at a full time job for a quite honestly piss poor wage whilst trying to earn a degree with OU, yet everyday I run into people who drop their kids off, go home, watch Jeremy Kyle and piss about on facebook all day. That in itself is annoying enough, but when these mouth breathing window lickers can seem to afford most of lifes little luxuries whilst Im barely getting by something is surely wrong? I mean even if they did a few hours in the day working in a shop, I'd have no problem with them getting their wages topped up by benefits as they would at least be making an effort. To my mind benefits should allow you to exist, thats it, a roof over your head, clothes on your back and food on the table. Not enough for you? GET A FUCKING JOB.

I know it must be very frustrating, but in 5 or 10 years from now you will be the one laughing at those still stuck in their same place in life, watching daytime tv.

As my old Gran used to say: "The village idiot can have a baby, it takes good parenting to raise one". So keep working hard, the respect and admiration might not be forthcoming from people, but believe me, you will not look back a few years from now. Not to mention the role model you set to your children.

It's easier to be liberal about some things when you're younger.
When you've been paying taxes, working your ass off and making something of yourself for decades, then raising children and supporting a family, watching people get something for nothing and living a piss easy life while ruining a child's future is harder to be... well, "nice" about.

I know what you mean.
I'm among the unemployed - have been since September. I deliberately took September - January after losing my job as a kind of hiatus so I could travel a bit, and just enjoy some time off (been working 16 years with maybe a week or two off each year).
I now spend 1-2 hours a day sending off resumes, and since February I've had 5 interviews. My friends who are also unemployed marvel at this, as they've been unemployed longer....but they're not doing anything about it! This infuriates me when they bitch and moan that they can't get a job.
Another friend in the same boat who is doing the same as me has been on some of the same interviews as me as we're in the same field. But that's 'cos she's trying, too!

It'll get worse soon
I work at a college and we get a lot of adults who are looking to get some skills and qualifications to gain employment. Whenever I start to get a bit annoyed about the permanently jobless I just have to visit one of my centres that I look after the computers for and the classes are packed with people who are desperate to find work. We have a lot of ESOL students (English as Second Language) students too who are looking for work. I really admire their spirit and really hope that their efforts pay off.

However what little funding for adult learners there was is going to be slashed so claw back some money. [insert rant about taxpayers money being used to bail banks out here] So we're going to lose lots of those students as the funding priorities are concentrated on the 16-19 year olds and the courses won't run.

I used to hate working at the Jobcentre, and hate all of the fucking punters that used to come in pretending to look for a job.

Man, my days were miserable. But at least I got paid, etc. Ho ho ho.

Actually, most of the people I saw were OK, and genuinely hated their position. Some, though, would do ANYTHING to actually avoid working for a living, and that used to piss me off big time. Why anyone would think that willingly doing fuck all for all of their life is a legitimate life choice is beyond me.

Good luck with the job situation, and remember that not everyone that works in a Jobcentre is a cunt - much like not everyone who is unemployed is a worthless, scrounging bastard.

i can't work
i'd love to, but my disabilities mean i can't.
that said, i really do think it's disgraceful that people are out there, working hard, only to receive a pittance which is sometimes, after tax, less than a person on benefits receives for doing fuck all. i know from friends of mine that it can be very disheartening to work so hard and feel so unappreciated in your job.

The lady round he corner
now has 5 kids. Never worked a day in her life and drives a year old car paid for with the money she gets from the state for rearing these little shits. The latest is called, and I shit you not, Mujahadin!!! Oh yeah, and she pisses it up all day with the junkies who were squatting on my allotment and shitting on it, who then got dogs and so I had to pick up human and dog shit. I have no car, work my arse off, was homeless for a year and a half with my wife and two kids and things are only now starting to look up.

She really winds me up. Mujahadin, for fuck's sake!

that'd drive me nuts, too
there's a fair few around here, dropping sprogs all over the place. the average age for a new mother is 16, with the second kid arriving within a year. we can only hope that these kids grow up never wanting their own children to have to live on benefits(i fucking hate it) and actually turn out to be decent citizens, not pikey sprog-factories.
