Don't you just hate it......when you come up with a good idea and someone comes along and does the exact same thing (a la Shaun of the Dead)?
I like the second idea, sounds a bit "My Family and Other Animals" but without the animals.
I can't really take all the credit for the idea, my boyfriend helped a lot, although I fully intend to animate the opening credits at the very least!
