Because
in this area it made them both unusual in appearance. I found it amusing to see them standing together like some sort of bizarro-world mirror images.

Ahh.
But they probably don't see THEMSELVES as unusual. They probably looked at the other one and thought, "What a freak!" But made no connection. Or something. :P
