I can't afford MW3....Is hardly a money-saving tip.
Having said that though, get a Steam account and put it on your wishlist, there is guaranteed to be a sale on it at sometime in the next year and you can get it then.
I've picked up the following games for under £40 for the lot on Steam in the last few months:
Rage
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Metro 2033
