This is a question Schadenfreude

There's nothing like administering first aid to cyclist who has just spanged into the back of a milk float when you have tears of laughter running down your face. The world is just one long episode of You've Been Framed - when have you laughed at the misfortune of others?

Many people in Scotland
show this trait whenever England are beaten at football.

Must most of the time...
...it's the other way round

Which is exactly why it happens
Scotland are shite at football. The 'auld enemy' are actually quite good at it. So a lot of Scots take great pleasure in watching England being beaten.

Yup
When Scotland do shite as per normal, the English probably don't take a second glance..

When England do get pummelled it's almost as satisfying as an actual win!

Sad I know, but we do have to put up with a lot of smuggery what with the British Broadcasting Corporation being Anglo-centric.

and although it's football, they still manage to mention the cricket!
why?

many all

Definitely all, but this might have something to do with the traditional six weeks of we can beat the world buildup and subsequent two weeks of national mourning/crying.

With of course
the frequent references to 1966.
