Schadenfreude
There's nothing like administering first aid to cyclist who has just spanged into the back of a milk float when you have tears of laughter running down your face. The world is just one long episode of You've Been Framed - when have you laughed at the misfortune of others?

Durrrr
A lot of people are confusing Schadenfreude with banal, uninteresting anecdotes and stories that end with, essentially, "needless to say, I had the last laugh"
FTR, I have no interesting/amusing stories associated with the topic.
Edit: there have been some fucking corkers too, so it's evening out ok so far. As you were!

Agreed
Also, justice with schadenfreude. If you see a person acting like a wally and they have something bad happen to them, that's not schadenfreude.

I agree with you agreeing
Let's go thorugh nine pages of QOTW and comment on every one which isn't schadenfreude. As the OP you can go first!

To arms!
I work with academic types. First sign of snow and they're all "working from home". Also my boss is in Poland.
You take page nine and work backwards and I'll start from the first post and shall see you somewhere in the morass.

when you say 'fucking corkers'
you're talking about my 'pooing on my brother' story. I know you are.

It's true
I read it out to my mrs on the bus, but I was crying laughing so most folk heard it.
I have a poo story too! You can find it on my profile thing, can't link off my phone.

Schadenfreude:'Enjoying the misfortune or misery of another, especially if it seems appropriate.'
seems to fit the description of most stories
( , Tue 22 Dec 2009, 15:56, closed)
that should read : 'Enjoying the misfortune or misery of another, especially if it seems INappropriate.'
Schade means shame. you wouldn't be ashamed at laughing at someone who really deserves it.

German : Schaden, damage (from Middle High German schade , from Old High German scado) + Freude, joy (from Middle High German vreude , from Old High German frewida , from frō, happy)

Zing!
In commonly used vernacular schade means shame. Just because it can mean something dissimilar, doesn't make your argument more sound.
Stop using google to try and win arguments.
(check out this nublet standing his shaky and possibly landmined ground)

can you think of a better reason to use google?
pop and plop are similar words, but mean different things. although now I think about it. . . .
plus, the description above is the etymology of a word, and the definition used earlier is exactly that.
'Joy at anothers misery' or thereabouts
not once in any definition of the word, does the German for shame seem to get a mention. I would suggest you are in error.
I am in anal mode as the original post was directed, in a large part, at me. A response was needed.
Edit. Just noticed that the original post was 3 minutes before mine, although the poster did decorate my post with a humorous reply, bless 'im
