I was pondering a story in which there was some requirement to head out to some islands off the Cornish coast to dig up a repository of ancient scrolls and dechiper their meaning,

Alright, you collectively win.
Several things rhyme with 'silly achievements'. They're vowel rhymes rather than consonant rhymes, though, so not sure if you can shoe-horn them into a story.
