Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us: "My dad's friend told us there's no such thing as gravity - it's just the weight of air holding us down". Tell us of times you've been floored by abject stupidity. "Whenever I read the Daily Express" is not a valid answer.

How about this for ignorance?
On a UK (or Europe) localised copy of a popular word processor, the dictionary defaults to "English (US)" - Doesn't that defeat the point of localising it?

well I've been refusing to upgrade for a while now (still using the 2003 edition - I like my menus how they are thanks), so I can't speak for newer things. But no auto detect as far as I'm aware. Maybe it was just my copy - it has been known switch to French without warning!

Which means it just wings it until it can guess what version of english you're typing in.
Far more difficult than consulting your registrys locale settings.
