He had a sexy smoking a fag and playing pool pose too. I also liked it very much when he sang My Way. So much finer than Angel too.

I suspectthat part of it is that he was one of the few characters on aimed-at-teens TV who was allowed to smoke and yet still be sexy, without it being a "smoking kills you in 3.7 seconds, mmkay?" kind of episode. As I recall there were only ever a couple of mild rebukes, like when Xander says "those things'll kill you" and just gets a dead eyebrow raised at him by way of reply.
