The Great Outdoors
Deskbound says: Camping! Hiking! Other stuff that's not indoors! Regale us with your tales of the great outdoors, whether it involves being rogerred by the Scout Master or skinning your first rabbit.

I live in this province and this is why the outdoors is fucking great.

(It's a linky to a video of happy smiley people having fun in the outdoors in western Canada)
If this doesn't make you want to come here you are dead inside.
If a bear gets you then you're dead and inside.

Alberta would be okay
if it wasn't full of fucking Albertans.
And don't get me started on British Columbia.

I saw a lovely bit of graffiti on a crapper wall out in the mountains.
"Albertans are redneck assholes"
To which an Albertan had added
"Why yes, we are! Thanks for noticing".
I like Alberta very much and BC is fantastic. Dunno about the people, I suppose I don't know that many but all my friends here are from here and they are a great bunch.
So I dunno, what IS an Albertan?

Pubs, hmmm.
There are pubs and there are bars, neither of which can hold a candle to a good Brit pub. They're ok though and some are very nice or atmospheric.
Some are just scabby biker hangouts or full of angry wannabe cowboys looking to batter someone who isn't an angry cowboy just like them.
Of course this may not be your thing at all. If you love sports bars with non-stop hockey/baseball/Merkin football on giant screens then we are awash with the fuckers.
Yes I do miss English pubs.

If you wanted a drink after a satisfying day of outdoor activity
you should have packed it beforehand, the nearest beverage dispenser is an hours drive away.

Plenty of that going on.
They don't show it because it's noisy and people die every weekend doing it buried in avalanches or falling through thawing ice on lakes.
It does look amusing to go tearing through the back-country at 100mph though.
