It's like stropping a blade.
you push the blade along the arm, in a opposite motion to shaving. Not sideways otherwise you will look like some sort of self-harm emo.

Under a microscope, the cutting edge of the blades are actually serrated. Shaving misaligns the teeth. Stropping it on your arm realigns them again making the blade sharp again.

Actually, the heel of the hand, particularly at the base of the thumb is better as it is slightly rougher.

Make sure you wet it first.
