On leaving the restaurant, Dean insisted on showing off the car to Guinness, who said "Please never get in it. If you do, you will be dead within a week". has the whiff of urban legend about it. I know it's been quoted elsewhere, but since they're both dead now its kinda difficult to substantiate.

Also, the reason so many people are pissed their parents threw out their Star Wars stuff and 2000AD is that it was popular when they were kids.

It's not like the 550 was a hugely safe car anyway, was it? And James Dean probably wasn't the safest of drivers.

was well known for his reluctance to talk about star wars as he felt it was all 'a bit silly'.

Once he was approached by a fan who told him that he'd watched the films over 100 times to which Alec replied 'you should get yourself some professional help, or at least get out more' (or words to that effect)
