This is a question Thrown away: The stuff you loved and lost.

Smash Wogan writes, "we all love our Mums, but we all know that Mums can be cunts, throwing out our carefully hoarded crap that we know is going to be worth millions some day."

What priceless junk have you lost because someone just threw it out?

Zero points for "all my porn". Unless it was particularly good porn...

Nothing
I have lost stuff over the years.

Motorbike nicked from the side of the road after an accident, transformers, teddy called "Pip", PC destroyed and thrown out by upset ex but nothing that has made me go more than, "oh well. I'll be dead some day and it won't matter."

Although I am not a fatalist I cannot think that anything that occurs on this small speck of dirt in the void matters one little bit (in the scale of things).

Or even worse
the last chocolate biscuit in the pack- nicked by someone who eats it the wrong way up!

How much of that void do you have any contact with? Probably not that much- and probably less than most if that's how you're justifying your bleak outlook. So okay, the universe is bloody huge and there's the rest of space is infinite outside of that. BUT it'll never affect you- so concentrate on the bits you can change.

As Douglas Adams once said, the one thing we just cannot afford to have in a universe of this size is a sense of perspective. Unless you're Zaphod Beeblebrox.

I guess it depends
whether feeling infinitesimally small is good or bad for you.
