This is a question Conspiracy theory nutters

I keep getting collared by a bloke who says that the war in Afghanistan is a cover for our Illuminati Freemason Shapeshifting Lizard masters to corner the market in mind-bending drugs. "It's true," he says, "I heard it on TalkSport". Tell us your stories of encounters with tinfoil hatters.

I hate the fact that people cite the Easter Island heads as being an example of mysterious ancient civilisation shit.
They're not. There's nothing mysterious about them. We know how they were built. We know why they were built. We know who built them. We even know the names of most of the individuals whose heads they're supposed to be. Easter Island is still inhabited, even today, by the descendants of the builders. The most recent ones only date from the mid 1600s.

The only mystery attached is how they built them without wood for scaffolding (Easter Island having no trees at all). At least that was a mystery, until soil sampling proved that until the 1600s, Easter Island was heavily forested.
