I had an almost new (I was the second renter) Chevy Malibu in the US on holiday a few years back. What a piece of shit. It handled like a sofa, but was stupidly uncomfortable, had an abysmal auto gearbox, even by American standards, and started to sound rough after only a couple of thousand miles (because it had burned so much engine oil the dipstick was dry, and I had to fill it up!).

I handed it back after 3 weeks and 4150 miles and was glad to see the back of it.
