Have you just avoided a car crash by swerving wildly and have now smashed through the barrier on a bridge, over the edge and into the water below, and need to get out of the water-filled car before you drown?Wind down the window and escape through that.

Best off opening the window before you end up in the water, otherwise the pressure will make it difficult to escape.
No hope if you have electric windows.
Seriously, if this does happen, it might be best to stay calm, conserve your energy. Wait until the car is almost completely submerged before escaping, that way the door is easy to open because the pressure is equal. It's true. I saw it on Mythbusters.
