Don't unsubscribe from unwanted marketing emails
mark them as junk and block the sender. If enough people do this, many ISPs will auto-block future sends from that email.

Unsubscribing just confirms that it's an active email, so they sell it on to other parties.

if it's a phishing mail, certainly
but as someone who sends out 'legitimate' sales emails, I know the harm junking can do to me.
and frankly any harm i can cause to my competition is good. (I realise this also harms me, but meh, i send out spam).
