My parents' house is badly-builtSome of the ornaments have a tendency to slide across the mantlepiece and are in danger of falling off and breaking.
However, it's possible to increase the friction and keep them in place by standing said baubles on serving platters.
Thus they come to occupy a tray-shored position.
